Whats new in Embedded Wizard V6
The new Embedded Wizard V6.0 is available
now. It enables more flexible, powerful and comfortable GUI development
for embedded platforms than ever before. Embedded Wizard V6.0 introduces a redesigned class library "Mosaic 2.0" based on new Graphics Engine 2.0 (GE 2.0), which enables e.g. new graphics effects and new widget templates. Mosaic 2.0 was created to meet certain new UI requirements, for example touch and gesture handling, which are particularly interesting for display devices in multimedia, industrial, home and medical appliances. Please note, that Mosaic 2.0 is not compatible to Mosaic 1.0, hence we recommend to use Mosaic 2.0 for new projects. Of course, existing projects based on Mosaic 1.0 can be maintained and modified using Embedded Wizard V6.0 as well.
Embedded Wizard V6.0 introduces:
- a redesigned and improved class library "Mosaic 2.0"
- new graphics effects & layout management
- more ready-to-use widgets and components
- touch & gesture handlers
- a very simple programming model, which requires less development experiences
- a new quick tour, which helps to get familiar with the tool easier
New graphics effects & layout management
EmWi V6.0 enables new effects for color and transparency, as well as warping and transformation of objects. Thus, compelling GUI concepts can be realized easily.

Ready-to-use components & widgets
EmWi V6.0 contains a set of ready-to-use components, which solve many standard tasks easily: Buttons and sliders, knobs, analog displays, scroll lists with 'friction' (as known e.g. from the iPhone) and even a virtual keyboard. All components and widgets can easily be copied, modified and extended to achieve any desired look and behaviour.

Touch and Gesture Handling

EmWi V6.0 makes handling of gestures and touch events very easy: Just place the desired gesture of the touchable object and connect it to a piece of code to be executed. And in the prototyper, developers can instantly test the correct behaviour.
Class Library "Mosaic 2.0"
Embebbed Wizard includes a redesigned and improved class library "Mosaic 2.0". It facilitates many aspects of the GUI development, e.g. working with widgets, layout management or the design of fancy graphics effects. It is based on the new graphics engine 2.0 and thus enables compelling 2D/3D-like effects and animation. Mosaic 2.0 was designed with focus on the UI requirements of display devices particularly in multimedia, camera, industrial, home and medical devices, for example touch and gesture handling. Mosaic 2.0 also simplifies the programming model of Embedded Wizard. Experiences in object oriented programming are still valuable, but not anymore as strongly necessary as before.
If you plan to switch from Mosaic 1.0 to Mosaic 2.0, please note, that Mosaic 2.0 is a completely new implementation of the class library and is not compatible to the previous Mosaic 1.0. Furthermore, Mosaic 2.0 requires the availability of Graphics Engine 2.0 (GE 2.0) on your target platform. We recommend to use Mosaic 2.0 for all newly started projects, while Mosaic 1.0 will be maintained for modifications of existing, previous projects. Mosaic 1.0 can work with both Graphics Engine 1.0 and Graphics Engine 2.0. When creating a new project, users can explicitely select, which version of Mosaic they want to use.
For details please see the compatibility diagram on the right (click to enlarge).
Take a "Quick Tour"

The free trial version as well as the full version, both contain a new quick tour example, which will lead you through Embedded Wizard step by step. Thus developers can get a quick overview of the tools functionality and workflow within an hour. For more in-depth understanding, we further recommend to study the tutorials, which come with the Embedded Wizard setup.
