Dongle activation

Description:

A dongle (USB security device) activation can be necessary for several reasons:

- activate a new feature level in the Software

- activate the code generation for a further target platform.

- extend an expired evaluation license.

- the dongle is not recognized when starting the EmWi Software.

In any case the dongle activation requires a *.RFP file that is provided exclusively by TARA Systems.

Solution:

An activation file from TARA is usually provided as an *.RFP file via Email. It can be used only for the intended license numbers that are commonly part of the file name and will not work for other licenses. The license number is a four digit number on the key fob of your USB dongle.

To update the dongle(s), please follow these steps:

1.) Save the provided *.rfp file to your hard disk

2.) Start the tool “activate.exe”, which you will find in your "EmbeddedWizard" installation directory.

3.) Plug-in the dongle in a free USB port on your PC, load the *.rfp file into the activate.exe program and upgrade the dongle.

If you want to upgrade more than one dongle, please repeat step 3.

4.) Finished.
