Licensing additional platform support

Description:

To generate the code for a dedicated target platform (EmWi profile) you need the EmWi platform package (PP) installed on your PC and you need the activation for your license key (dongle) to generate code for this target platform. Whether a license can be activated for an additional platform or not, depends on the license type.

Solution:

1.) SC (semiconductor) license:

Semiconductor manufacturers get special conditions if they order licenses in a higher volume to provide it to their customers. With respect to the SC’s interests, an update to further platforms is NOT POSSIBLE for these licenses. To support another platform you need a further EmWi license.

2.) Customer license:

Licenses ordered directly from TARA or via one of our distributers coming by default with the activation for Win32 (PC platform) plus one specific target platform. They can be activated for further target platforms at any time. The activation is processed by a small activation file for the USB dongle and will be provided via Email. An additional platform license is bound to a single EmWi license (dongle), so it will not affect other EmWi licenses in your company, unless they are also licensed for an additional platform.

Dependent on the target platform, the required EmWi platform package (PP) will be provided either from our EmWi download center or directly from the SC with their Software package. Most SCs have contributed the PP development so that the PP is free of charge for their customers. In some case TARA has developed the PP on its own costs and will take a small onetime fee. A PP can be used for all EmWi licenses and in all products within the licensees company.

3.) Evaluation license:

In rare case, TARA provides a USB key for evaluation purpose. This license is time limited an activated only for Win32 code generation. It can be extended for a specific target platform by an order for a regular license. There is no need to exchange the dongle if you decide for a customer license.
