What fonts can I use in EmWi?

Description

This article describes the prerequisites for fonts to be used in an EmWi project.

Solution

EmWi offers the possibility to import all “true type fonts” (TTF) installed on your PC into an EmWi project, however it is not possible to import bitmap fonts. EmWi expects a true type font that contains the outline data for scalable font sizes. This is necessary because we need compatibility to platform packages that have a true type font engine integrated (Freetype, Bitstream, Monotype, etc.). Therefore bitmap based fonts are not supported.

In the past we have seen true type fonts that contained only bitmap information. These fonts will not be visible in the character map tool. Select Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Character Map and check whether the characters are visible there. If you can’t see the characters there, you have no proper TTF in use.
