Chao Long is an international automotive corporation based in Taiwan with high ambition in R&D in the automotive sector since 1973. Their quality policy aspires to “create a quality advantage and to pursue the satisfaction of our customers”. The company produces parts for passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles, agriculture construction vehicles, water mobiles, and many other special utility off-road vehicles.

The Project Goal

At the end of 2018 Chao Long started the overall assessment for their eScooter dashboard VSC01 and found out that developing GUI software is an enormous exercise as their product is highly customized: all rendering for each customer and for each different product model had to be redefined.

The Solution

Chao Long got in touch with the Embedded Wizard Framework via Simplify, our comprehensive distributor in Taiwan and China. Chao Long is convinced to have found the optimal software solution as they experience Embedded Wizard’s advantages, such as smooth animations and their transitions, making use of small memory consumption, and the underlying high-end chip architecture. To undermine their decision, an efficient test project from scratch to functioning prototyping within 30 days was built successfully.

The Result

Chao Long has recently launched its next-generation digital cluster platform board for motorcycle customers called VSC01, which features an 800x480px display, Bluetooth connectivity, and video input capability, and which is controlled by an NXP i.MX RT1052 MCU. Smooth GUI rendering and animation effects are enabled through NXP’s 2D PxP accelerator.

The dashboard GUI with its wireless connectivity features is exactly what our customers will be looking for in the next few years. We are impressed with Embedded Wizard’s GUI software capability making fancy animation effects such as fast page switch and color change. The animation effects let the users feel comfortable with the content provided - as a result, this makes this product outstanding. The Embedded Wizard framework helps us to promote our product with more WOW effect.
